Here’s the latest news (The twitter updates to the right or on the site could be more current):
- 10/23 9am Residents east of I-805, west of Alta Road, south of Main Street and north of the border are under voluntary evacuation
- Erratic, shifting wind patterns are expected today. San Diego County residents should be ready for potential quick, immediate evacuations
- More than 300,000 San Diego County residents have been evacuated
- Mayor Sanders is reminding people to please stay home today, stay off the freeways, and off cell phones. “We need donations for Qualcomm.”
- 10/23 8am The I-15 North & South between 78 and the 56 is open. Drivers should be advised visibility is difficult due to ash and smoke
- 1,000+ homes destroyed, 5,000+ homes threatened in San Diego, Poway, Ramona, Escondido, Lakeside, Valley Center, San Marcos, Rancho Santa Fe

10/23 2amLooks like things have calmed down for the night but they will almost certainly pick up tomorrow morning
- Officials urge San Diegans “do not let guard down”
- Winds are causing fire to reach areas officials once thought were safe.
- UCSD Burn Center has reached capacity and is not receiving anymore patients.
- Military police being called in to patrol evacuated neighborhoods.
- I’m back, Eyewitness reports of fire wall heading towards the Del Mar Coastal area.
- I’m going to fill up my car with gas, be back to updating soon.
- FEMA arriving in San Diego Tuesday.
- Authorities advising not to use cell phones to make calls in the San Diego area. Txt-message if you have to.
- SDG&E reports that 30,000 people are without power.
- As of 5:35pm: 6 homes have burned in Rancho Sante Fe, approximately 50 in Poway, 70 in Escondido and unknown number in Rancho Barnardo.
- 100 soldiers from the National Guard will be here by 7p.m. tonight and 1200 more are on their way tomorrow.
- The San Marcos fire has been 100% contained.
- The Coronado Hills fire has been 100% contained.
- As of 5:20pm: The Qualcomm Stadium parking lot is only about 20-25% full at this point. People are unloading supplies, towels, bedding for fire victims.
- All classes at SDSU and UCSD have been cancelled for tomorrow
